Frequently Asked Questions

Get your burning questions about payment, insurance, referrals, how many nutrition sessions you’ll need, and what follow-ups look like, answered below.

  • My 1:1 nutrition coaching sessions are currently full. If you would like to get on my waitlist you can fill out the form on my contact page.

I do have Group Nutrition Sessions available for runners and cyclists. I also offer master classes for endurance athletes.

If you are looking for a 1-2 time nutrition session for running or cycling and are looking for some slight tweaks and already have a solid nutrition foundation, please reach out.

  • Yes, I take health insurance as payment. However, I do need a referral with a nutrition-related diagnosis code in order to bill insurance for a medical nutrition therapy visit. Otherwise for nutrition coaching it is out of pocket, self-pay.

I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, United Health Care, Aetna, Tufts, Cigna, Maine Community Health Options, and Mass General Brigham Health Plan.

Every plan is different and it is your responsibility to understand your coverage.

Unfortunately I do not take Medicare or Medicaid. I am not credentialed with Medicare. Nutrition sessions would be self-pay.

  • YES I need a referral or 'Order Form' from your Primary Care Doctor if you are planning on using your health insurance.

Have your Primary Care Doctor send a Referral/ Order Form with a nutrition-related diagnosis to my affiliate HUSK/Nutrition in Motion’s Fax: (877) 743-5351.

This allows for easy insurance billing/coding and to work with your health care providers as a team.

Examples of diagnoses are: Low Iron (anemia), Constipation, Diarrhea, Diagnosed Eating Disorder, GERD, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Lactose Intolerance, Malnutrition, BMI: 25+, Underweight BMI <18.5, Abnormal Weight Loss, Abnormal Weight Gain. Exceptions for referrals are BCBS PPO or Mass General.

  • Initial nutrition session for 55 minutes is $200.

    InBody Scan $25

    Metabolism Test $75

    Eatlove Meal Planning Software $50/mo.

Group Nutrition Coaching for Cyclists $ Varies

  • On average I see clients for six follow-up visits. This allows us to solidify behavior change and achieve our goals in a realistic step-by-step manner that is sustainable.

I see clients every two weeks for at least three to six months.

I offer one to two time nutrition strategy sessions for those who have a solid nutrition foundation and want some clarity around specific areas of sports nutrition.

If your nutrition sessions are coupled with a Group Nutrition Program, runners and cyclists will benefit with more knowledge more quickly and therefore may need fewer 1:1 nutrition coaching sessions.

  • The initial nutrition session is all about getting to know you, your lifestyle, your activity level, your current diet, history of eating, food preferences, medical history as it pertains to nutrition, relationship with food, cooking ability and overall health and wellness goals.

You’ll leave the initial session with some nutrition education and some nutrition intentions/goals. Your life won’t be flipped upside down in one day, instead I take a slow, behavior change approach to create lasting results.

The follow-ups are where we get into more nutrition education detail and can make more specific short-term goals that will enhance your overall long-term health and performance goals.

  • You can expect to learn and put into practice how to fuel your body, before, during and after endurance and strength activity.

You will learn how to fuel your body on a day to day basis, based off your lifestyle and activity level.

You can expect to put work into your relationship with food and body, and challenge any negative intrusive thoughts that prevent you from fueling yourself for optimal health and performance.

You will learn skills on how to practice optimal meal timing.

After 6 1:1 nutrition sessions with me or group nutrition coaching you can expect to gain a better understanding of sports nutrition, feel better in your skin and body, have a better relationship around food, have better bowel movements and less gastrointestinal distress, sleep better, have more energy to do all the things you love and excel at your sport so that you can keep doing it, forever by staying strong and healthy and prevent injury.

You will get your questions answered about food, supplements, nutrition timing, how to build a performance plate, bloodwork, and much more.

  • I take an individualized approach to tracking calories and macronutrients. For some people, tracking macronutrients can provide great insight as to how they are doing and how much they need to adjust.

For others, tracking can be triggering for disordered eating and obsession which is why I typically use apps that allow you to take pictures of your plates and snacks and jot down notes about how your body is feeling and doing.

We review these plate pictures at the follow-ups or for $99/mo. you can have me in your back pocket to get questions answered sooner.

  • You can reschedule using the HUSK application or use my Calendly link with our appointment.

On the Calendly appointment reminder, scroll down towards the bottom and you will see the option to “reschedule” or “cancel”.

I do ask that you reschedule with more than 48 hours. I do have a late-cancel/no-show fee of $75 for any appointments canceled or rescheduled in under 24-hours.

I am unable to bill health insurance for any cancelations or no-shows and therefore it becomes the full responsibility of the client.

  • You can message me in the HUSK app or you can email me at Briana@nenutritionexercise.com.

If you want to be a new client, you can fill out my 1:1 nutrition coaching waitlist on my contact page.

If it is a sports nutrition question I will answer it at our follow-up session. If it is a scheduling question or something else, I will answer you as soon as I am able.

If you would like unlimited messaging in-between client sessions to have me in your back-pocket it is an additional cost of $99/mo.
